Figurative language vs Literal Language

Figurative language is like explaning something in and egsagerated way, for example, "im freezing to death', where in literal language it mean your actually going to freeze to death. for example, 'im literally going to freeze to death'. the "literally' part is what changes it to a reality.

Word meanings -
Simile -
A simile is something that includes the words like or as in a sentence.
For example -
She was as slow as a snail
He was like a cheetah chasing after the ball
The kitten was as soft as a cotton

Alliteration -
Alliteration is something where at mostly every word in a sentence starts with the same letter.
For example -
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
A good cook could cook as much cookies as a good cook who could cook cookies.
Black bug bit a big black bear.

Onomatopoeia -
Onomatopoeia is something that you use to describe a sound.
For example -
Bang, went the gun.
The person made a big splash, when she jumped in the pool
The city went boom when it was blown up.

Metaphor -
a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action that isnt actually a reality
For example -
Her long hair was a flowing golden river.
The snow is a white blanket.
The falling snowflakes are dancers.

Hyperbole -
